Track renewals and essential maintenance will be taking place at weekends during the summer that may affect some train services via Bristol Parkway, Swindon and Gloucester.
On Sundays 7, 14 and 21 June trains will be unable to operate south of Gloucester or east of Bristol Parkway; but services between Swindon and Chippenham will be unaffected.
We continue to advise the public to avoid travelling by rail unless absolutely necessary, to keep the trains free for key workers and essential travel.
Train services between London and South Wales will be diverted and won’t call at Bristol Parkway; services between London Paddington and Cheltenham Spa will not run.
In addition, track improvement work is planned at weekends affecting the Kemble line and, as a result, connecting coaches will replace trains:
• between Swindon and Gloucester on the weekends of 25/26 July and 1/2 August
• between Kemble and Gloucester on the weekends of 8/9 and 15/16 August
Further track renewals are planned from Saturday 29 to Monday 31 August (bank holiday) meaning services will be diverted between Swindon and Bristol Parkway.
This programme of engineering work has been planned by Network Rail to help increase the reliability and performance of train services in the region.
